Why choose a white shepherd? Why do you want a white shepherd?

These are things to consider when deciding what breed suits you.

White shepherds thrive in any situation as long as they are kept busy and spend time with their family.

Although they are a  big, active dog they are just as happy living in urban environments as they are on acreage.

White shepherds are active intelligent animals. They love stimulation and play periods, not just as puppies but as adult dogs too.

Keeping your white shepherd's mind and body active will  give you a dog less likely to be destructive who is happy in their environment.

It is important that all shepherds ... white or otherwise ... have basic training.

Training gives you a fantastic bond with your dog and teaches you how to work together so your white shepherd is a happy, obedient member of your family.

Having any dog is about getting out there and having fun with them.

While our white shepherds cannot be shown in ANKC conformation shows they can compete in ANKC obedience, agility trials and more;  and also compete in flyball, tracking and other disciplines.

White shepherds love to spend time with their family — you.  Whether you are watching TV at night or having a barbecue your white shepherd will want to be by your side.

Anyway, that's why you wannt a pet — isn't it!

A loyal companion, selflessly giving their lives to you with unconditional trust and love for you. And this is what your white shepherd will give you — can you give this in return?

Any pet takes great comittment — can you make this committment to your white shepherd if you choose this breed?
What Breed do I Choose?

õ  What type of commitment am I willing to make?
õ Am I willing to socialise and train my puppy through adolescence?
õ  What temperament will suit my lifestyle?

If after researching any other breeds of interest and the white shepherd is still there ask yourself:

õ  Why?
õ  And why white?

Then continue your search into the white shepherd no matter what name the breed is known by: white Swiss shepherd, Berger Blanc Suisse, Witte Herder, white German shepherd, and so on. Here are some links to help you start your research:

õ  FCI

All shepherds are a breed that tends to dominate unless they know their place in the pack; and this takes consistent training and time throughout at least the first 4 years of their lives.
